Surprised, Grateful, and Humbled: Frobaby Productions Nominated for “DJ of the Year” at the 2025 NACE Hawai‘i Ekahi Awards
Every once in a while, something happens that completely catches you off guard — in the best way possible.
That moment came for us this week when we got a DM from Gazoz Mobile Bar that said:
“We just voted for you for DJ of the Year!”
Our reply?
“Wait… what?! For what?!”
That’s how we found out that Frobaby Productions has been nominated for “DJ of the Year” at the 2025 NACE Hawai‘i Ekahi Awards!
We had no idea this was coming — and honestly, that’s what makes it even more special. As a boutique DJ team, we pour everything into what we do — every event, every mix, every packed dance floor — and to be recognized among Hawaii’s top event pros is beyond humbling.

For those who might not know, NACE Hawai‘i (the National Association for Catering and Events) is the hub of Hawaii’s wedding and event world. Their annual Ekahi Awards celebrate excellence, collaboration, and creativity across every corner of the industry — from planners and caterers to florists, venues, and entertainment teams.
According to NACE Hawai‘i, these awards highlight “professionals who raise the bar for event quality and community collaboration.”
Being nominated for DJ of the Year means the world to us — not just as a recognition of our work, but because it came from within this incredible community we love being part of.
We’re a Small Team with a Big Heart
Frobaby Productions started as a passion project — one DJ, a van, and a mission to create packed dance floors and unforgettable moments across O‘ahu. Over the years, that mission turned into a team built on connection, collaboration, and consistency.
We’ve never seen ourselves as a “big company.” We’re small by design — a boutique DJ team focused on quality, not quantity. Every couple we work with gets personal attention, every event gets customized playlists, and every setup is dialed to perfection.
So to see our name up there alongside some of Hawai‘i’s biggest and most talented event pros? It’s surreal, flattering, and deeply humbling.
How We Found Out
No formal email. No official heads-up. Just a message from Gazoz saying, “We voted for you!”
We gasped, checked the NACE Hawai‘i Ekahi Awards page, and there it was — Frobaby Productions listed among the nominees for DJ of the Year.
We might’ve done a little happy dance (okay, definitely did).
Moments like that remind us that this industry is built on genuine relationships. The people we collaborate with — planners, coordinators, bartenders, photographers, and fellow DJs — they’re not just colleagues. They’re the ones who make Hawaii’s wedding world feel like a family.
