KAIPO KAUKA (DJ/MC/SOUND ENGINEER)

Kaipo’s DJ journey started back in 2004, during his days as a nightclub promoter. One night, in an effort to cut costs, he grabbed the mic himself—and never gave it back. Instantly hooked on the energy of the crowd, he found his stride as a natural hype man, thriving where most people would freeze.

Working alongside some of Hawaii’s top nightclub DJs, Kaipo soaked in the craft night after night. Curiosity turned to passion, and before long he was behind his own set of turntables, practicing relentlessly and learning to move the room through music—not just the mic.

By 2007, he and his promotion crew were bringing full sound and lighting rigs into venues, transforming spaces into club-style experiences. Around that time, weddings started popping up—his friends were getting married, and they knew Kaipo could deliver. Fast forward to today: with over a thousand weddings under his belt, Kaipo brings a high-caliber club DJ style to the precision and flow of a wedding day.

What sets him apart is his ability to customize. “I believe the music should reflect the couple’s personality. It’s their soundtrack—something to look back on and remember, because it spoke for them.”

Outside of weddings, Kaipo stays busy engineering live sound for local bands. As a former drummer himself, he has a deep appreciation for live music and loves the technical challenge of making it sound perfect. Whether solving sound issues on the fly or fine-tuning a dance floor set, Kaipo shows up with precision and pride.

His musical taste is wide-ranging—current Top 40, island reggae, and deep cuts from the ‘70s, ‘80s, ‘90s, and early 2000s all find their way into his playlists.

When he’s not behind the decks or the soundboard, Kaipo is likely surfing, hiking, or cheering on his kids at their sports games—with camera in hand.
